Deputy Minister, Youth and Sports of the Republic of Türkiye and Deputy President, Turkish Green Crescent Society
Ms. Safa KOÇOĞLU graduated from “İstanbul Commerce University”, “Faculty of Law” in 2011 as the top highest ranked student. She got her Master's Degree at the same university with a full scholarship. In 2013, she finished her Master's Thesis, at the Department of Private Law on “Invalidity of the Will”.
She received her Doctorate from Istanbul University, Social Sciences Institute, Department of Private Law, in 2018, with the thesis on “The Consequences of Divorce on Children”.
Ms. Koçoğlu worked as a lawyer in the private sector for a while and at the Prime Ministry Mass Housing Administration, then she worked as an Advisor to the Minister at the Ministry of Family and Social Services.
She worked as a faculty member at Istanbul Civilization University between the years of 2020 and 2023 and received the title of Associate Professor in 2022. In the same year, she published her work on “Establishment, Running and Termination of Foundations According to the Turkish Civil Code”. She continued her arbitration and advice activities as well. She actually keeps on her academic studies in the fields of children and youth rights, family strengthening, civil society rights, and violence against women, gender discrimination/inequality, social exclusion and development.
Since she was a student, she has been a founding member and manager of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) as well as the coordinator of national and international projects in the fields of law, culture-art, women, human and especially youth rights. She is currently Vice President of the Turkish Green Crescent Society and President of the Young Green Crescent.
In accordance with the Presidential Decree No. 3, she was appointed as the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Youth and Sports on June 22, 2023 by the Presidential Decree No. 2023/308. She became the youngest Deputy Minister and the first female Deputy Minister in the history of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
