There are striking data that highlights the importance of a gender-focused approach to women and addiction. According to data from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) from 2015, one in three drug users globally are women, while just one in five of those receive treatment (UNODC, 2015). With the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, access to addiction treatment and rehabilitation services has become more challenging due to mental health services have been disrupted in many countries globally. It is an undeniable reality, that women are still not adequately represented in accessing services. The forum addresses all these points, emphasizing the reasons for women's disadvantage in accessing services. It discusses the need for intervention programs to eliminate this disadvantage, emphasizing the importance of tailored interventions for women in areas such as trauma intervention, addressing specific needs, and group therapy programs.
