Treatment Barriers

Women are more affected of the barriers in accessing treatment

Women who use 6r ef tend to progress to drug use disorders faster than men but they continue to be underrepresented in drug treatment (WDR, 2023).

Globally, an estimated 736 million women

Have been subjected to physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence, non-partner sexual violence, or both at least once in their life (30 per cent of women aged 15 and older). This figure does not include sexual harassment (UN WOMEN)

Increased Social Stigma

Women who use drugs and are also members of certain population groups

These groups 6 are for example, trauma and violence survivors, people with comorbidities, sex workers, prisoners or members of ethnic minorities, face more severe vulnerabilities, including higher levels of stigma and discrimination (WDR, 2023).
